A Guide to Installing & Adjusting Your AR15 Carry Handle

If you're seeking to combine the timeless look of a carry handle with the high performance of your AR-15, then a carry handle rear sight is just the ticket. This user-friendly, detailed guide will take you step by step through the installation and adjustment process, ensuring you get the most out of your new accessory.

Step-by-Step Guide for a Classic Look and Optimal Performance

Step 1: Prepare Your Workstation and Ensure Your Firearm is Safe

Drawing from our experience, you'll first need to double-check that your firearm is unloaded and the safety is engaged. It's always wise to prioritize safety. Gather your  AR-15, carry handle rear sight, and a flathead screwdriver to begin the installation.

Step 2: Position the Carry Handle Rear Sight Correctly

Set the carry handle rear sight atop the Picatinny rail, making sure the sight's mount lines up with the rail's grooves. The sight should face the proper direction, with apertures aimed towards the muzzle. We've determined through our tests that this guide applies to an array of AR configurations, including M4 carry handle sights and  AR-15 A2 carry handles.

Step 3: Fasten the Sight in Place

After aligning the sight, hand-tighten the thumbscrews. Use the flathead screwdriver to secure the sight further. Avoid over-tightening; the screws should be snug enough to prevent movement during shooting. This step is relevant for both detachable and rifle carry handles.

Step 4: Make Windage Adjustments

Find the windage adjustment knob on the right side of the carry handle rear sight. Turn the knob left or right to make adjustments. Typically, each click corresponds to a 1/2 MOA (minute of angle) adjustment. Note that turning right shifts the point of impact right, while turning left moves it left. This process works for AR-15 carry handle iron sights and AR detachable  carry handles.

Step 5: Modify Elevation

Locate the elevation adjustment knob on the left side of the carry handle rear sight. Adjust the elevation by changing the position of the rear sight's aperture. Rotate the elevation knob to move the aperture up or down. Each click signifies a 1 MOA adjustment. Clockwise rotation raises the point of impact, while counterclockwise rotation lowers it. Based on our observations, this adjustment is suitable for AR rear sight handles and A2 carry handle rear sights.

Step 6: Select the Appropriate Aperture

The carry handle rear sight includes two apertures: one for long-range precision shooting and another for short-range shooting. Flip the peep sight to switch between apertures. This feature is available on AR-15 rear sight carry handles and detachable carry handles with A2 rear sight AR-15s.

Step 7: Zero in Your Sight

Head to the range to zero your sight. Begin by firing several rounds at a target, making the necessary windage and elevation adjustments until you reach the desired point of impact.  Based off our own experience, this step is essential for all AR-15 setups, such as AR-15s with carry handles, M 16 carry handles and M4 detachable carry handles.

Done. You've successfully installed and adjusted your AR-15 carry handle rear sight. By following this guide, you can enjoy a seamless blend of classic design and modern functionality, showcasing your firearms expertise and passion. Be sure to practice various AR-15 sight placements and try different AR-15 zeros to refine your shooting abilities.
